Dallas: A Day With JFK

We went to the Dallas-Fort Worth area twice this year because Mr. Monkey found $159 round-trip flights on Virgin America!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- if you haven't flown Virgin America yet, you should really try it. It's easily my favorite domestic airline, and there are often mind-blowing prices for places you might not think to visit.

Like Dallas!

It doesn't matter where we go. It is always an adventure, and there is always something new to experience.

In Dallas, we visited The Sixth Floor Museum, which chronicles the life and death of President John F. Kennedy.

The museum spans the sixth and seventh floors of the Texas School Book Depository, from which Lee Harvey Oswald fatally shot the president.

Or did he?

The museum is really interesting and not at all as morbid as one might imagine, notwithstanding the fact that it goes into great detail about the president's death and various theories surrounding his assassination.

Photos are not permitted in the real exhibits, but I hope the pictures that I took give you a general feel. A ticket costs $13.50 (or $11.50 with the AAA discount) and is well worth the price.

After the museum, we just had to go to the infamous grassy knoll outside, formally known as Dealey Plaza.

Yeah, we walked around, Zapruder-style.

Then we walked around the area some more.

  1. I've been to Dallas so many times and still haven't been to the museum, but it's definitely on my list for the next trip. Thanks for the Virgin America tip-I will definitely have to check into that.
