Mama Monkey and Brother Monkey joined me at Sapp Coffee Shop (5183 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, (323) 665-1035) for a Thai boat noodlefest.
Despite its no-frills decor, the strip mall eatery is popular with both Thai natives and hungry hipsters. We quickly discovered why.
Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee ($1.75 each).
Som tom papaya salad ($6.25).
So glad we got the Thai iced drinks with lots of cream. This salad set our mouths aflame. I could only stomach a few bites. Even Mama Monkey couldn't handle it, and she is our resident heat vanquisher.
Spicy beef boat noodles ($5.50).
Here's the famed bowl. It lived up to the hype. Full-flavored. Great texture.
Spicy pork boat noodles ($5.50).
Also very good, but I preferred the beef.
BBQ pork, duck, crab jade noodles ($6.25).
The check and post-meal tea candy were quite palatable, too.
Be sure to check out ED&BM chowing on these boat noodles with Anthony Bourdain!
