Cafe Boulud Dinner at Animal

On Monday and Tuesday, Chef Gavin Kaysen of New York City's Cafe Boulud visited Animal and cooked up a special $75 five-course dinner for lucky guests.

The French bistro fare was quite different from the usual hearty meatiness of Animal.

Sweet petit pois arancini, bed of pea shoots, Coleman Farm radishes.

Scrumptious, golden, teeny-tiny bites! I was dejected that we were served this Lance Armstrong-style -- only one ball each.

Hiramasa crudo, compressed watermelon, fried garlic, ponzu, cilantro flowers.

Ain't nobody dope as me -- I'm just so fresh, so clean. So fresh and so clean, clean!

Spaghetti nero, fra diavio, prawns, squid, tarragon.

Colors of the world! Spice up your life! Every boy and every girl! Spice up your life!

Caper-crusted lamb loin, Weiser carrots, fava beans, pearl onions, mint-infused lamb jus + potato "risotto."

Monkey had a little lamb. Its side was white as snow.

Mousse au chocolat, hazelnut gateau, blood orange, lavender crumble.

Dark, sweet, unexpected. Taste the secret -- you're infected. Cure my body's deepest pains. Brought the thunder. Made it rain. Oh, my, chocolate rain, I love you.

Special thanks to my brother for getting this reservation.
