Baja Night: Ricky's Fish Tacos + Mexicali Taco & Co

Lady Ducayne invited me to Baja Night at 1st and Beaudry at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Ricky's Fish Tacos and Mexicali Taco & Co in the same location? Yes, please! I got there at 6:15, and the line already looked like this.

Lady Ducayne was smart and got there early. She noshed on her fish taco and lobster taco from Ricky's Fish Tacos while she waited in line with me.

Patience is key. Night fell as I waited for goodies from Ricky himself.

I cheered when I heard my number. Ricky ran out of lobster by the time I got my order, so I got a Ricky's Special ($3.00), which is a fish and shrimp taco. Loved it so much! Fresh from the fryer! So light! So crisp! So great! Ricky also made a special soup for Baja Night with lobster, shrimp, and clams. Fabulous!

Lucky for me, tallnoe and her friends waited in the line for Mexicali Taco & Co while I waited for my seafoodfest. By the time I was done with my grub from Ricky's Fish Tacos, my order from Mexicali Taco & Co was ready. Yay!

This plate was mine. On the left is a Cachetada -- melted cheese and chorizo on a tostada topped with an aioli chipotle sauce ($2.50). On the right is a Vampiro -- garlic infused quesadilla with carne asada ($3.00). Both were incredible.

By the time I left Baja Night, the skyline looked like this.

I love my city.

  2. Looks delicious but I don't wait in line. More a function of how lazy I am.

  7. damelo.

And to answer your questions: Yes, I did hear about her, and no I hadn't seen either of the videos. I put the first one up on my fb fan page--david was hilarious. Today, I heard she dropped out. Not surprising and probably for the best.
