Decent Deal Sans Priceline: The Sofia Hotel

When priceline and Hotwire seem to fail you in San Diego, you can still get a decent room for under $100.  We booked a $92 room at The Sofia Hotel directly through its website.

Full disclosure -- the hotel is right next to a Greyhound station and near the local jail, but we did not encounter any problems or unsavory people.  Plus, the hotel restaurant is lovely, so you need not venture out for food if you don't feel like it.  We were quite satisfied with our stay.
