The Courage to Speak Out

"Religion is far more of a choice than homosexuality....Gay people don't choose to be gay. At what age did you choose to not be gay?"

I love you, Jon Stewart. If you love him, too, go here to thank him for defending marriage equality.

As the Courage Campaign emphasizes:
The only way we are going to be able to repeal Prop 8 in California is by having frank, honest discussions with our friends, family and neighbors about the meaning of marriage -- emphasizing the core argument that, in America, separate is NOT equal.

The more people talk about same-sex marriage, the more likely we will be able to restore marriage equality to California.
Talk to your friends. Talk to your family. You don't need to change their minds immediately, but getting a conversation started is the first step toward understanding and progress.

The fight is not over.

  3. I can personally attest that this is so true. Some people just need a little more exposure to these issues to see that Prop 8 is just plain wrong.

  5. I have to admit I've stopped talking about this. It is just too upsetting to realize how bigoted and unreasonable some of my friends and family members are. :(

  10. I heart Jon Stewart!

Did I tell you that my Grams got pretty pissed at me for talking to her about all this? I think she wanted to disown me and I'm pretty sure she told her co-workers that my soul is going to burn in hell. She even called ME stupid when I graduated college and she never finished high school. Yeah, fun e-mail conversation. Totally worth having it though if she even thought about it for 5 seconds. :)
